Everyone Is Reacting To Rihanna’s Pregnancy, Except Drake

Rihanna Is With Child From A$AP Rocky

Earlier this week, Rih announced the pregnancy with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky. The couple also did a romantic photoshoot. The unique take on a maternity shoot featured the ‘Love On the Brain’ singer and ASAP hand-in-hand strolling through the Harlem streets. Rih is adorned in a long, pink Chanel puffer coat strategically unbuttoned to showcase her belly. Her stomach is framed with a dangling Chanel jewelry cross, glistening with jewels and pearls. Of course, the internet was quick to react to the positive news. The “Navy” congratulated their fave on her pregnancy, something the 33-year-old has wished for since 2019.

Celebs Show Some Love

In addition to the fans, Plenty of Rihanna’s famous peers weighed in on her and A$AP Rocky’s special announcement. Namely, JT, Bia, Paris Hilton, Lizzo, and Dionne Warwick took to Twitter.

Noticeably, one celeb was missing from the pack. Drake, who publicly pined after Rih back in 2016, did not publicly acknowledge her pregnancy announcement. Drake and Rihanna have had a long and complex history. It’s filled with steamy dating rumors and the Barbadian singer’s equal amount of denials.

The Drake And Rihanna Saga

In a 2010 interview with The New York Times, Drake first expounded on his unrequited feelings for Rihanna. “You know what she was doing to me? She was doing exactly what I’ve done to so many women throughout my life, which is show them quality time, then disappear. I was like, ‘Wow, this feels terrible.'” Drake admitted, “I was a pawn.”

The duo apparently put aside their differences and collaborated on ‘What’s My Name‘ later that year. The song was a smash hit for both Drake and Rihanna, flying to number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and staying on the chart for 31 weeks. Drake subsequently poured his heart out a second time to ELLE in 2011, explaining his disappointment dealing with Rihanna romantically.

“I was hurt because I started to slowly realize what it was. I guess I thought it was more. That was the first girl with any fame that paid me any mind.”

Like their 2010 romp, the pair pushed away any lingering feelings to make another hit, ‘Take Care.’ Drake’s obvious feelings for Rih then exploded into a full-on beef with her ex Chris Brown. According to reports from TMZ, It all began with a violent altercation in an NYC club in mid-2012. Allegedly, Brown and Drake started to verbally argue, and, eventually, bottles and punches were thrown by their respective entourages. While Drake denied any involvement at the time, he was quick to acknowledge the tension in a 2013 interview on the Keep it Thoro podcast. “His insecurities are the fact that I make better music than him, that I’m more popping than him, and that at one point in life, the woman that he loves fell into my lap. I did what a real n—a would do and treated her with respect.” the Toronto rapper said.

In the years after the infamous NYC brawl, things went a bit quiet for Rihanna and Drake. While he continued to show love and support for the island songstress, nothing significant ever came about.

That was until their biggest hit to date, ‘Work‘ started dominating the radio in early 2016. Intimate live performances and suggestive lyrics caused “Drake & Rihanna” dating rumors to once again fly between the two mega pop stars. The talks were continuously fueled by Drake’s touching speech at the 2016 VMA’s, where he described Rihanna as “someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old. She’s one of my best friends in the world.”

Their rumored romance came to a screeching halt in 2018 when Rihanna spoke with Vogue on Drake’s candid VMA speech. “Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part. I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast,” she confessed. Since then, it’s been crickets for the tumultuous pair.

Where Do Drake And Rihanna Stand Now?

Fast forward to the present day, and both Drake and Rihanna are in completely different phases. Rihanna is expecting her first baby, while Drake has had a child of his own since 2018. Still, some think it’s odd the rapper didn’t offer any public congratulations towards the happy couple. Some fans are going so far as to poke fun at the ‘God’s Plan’ artist on social media.

Attention was drawn to him not following Rihanna on Instagram. However, that’s been the case since her 2018 Vogue interview. As of now, he’s still following ASAP Rocky.

It’s entirely possible, Drake gave the expecting couple well wishes privately. However, it’s hard to place anything on these two with such a chaotic past.
