A house divided cannot stand. And if that house is putting on a massive, show-stopping performance soon, that house better be properly made-up. Safe to say that Drake and Ye have their houses in order. The long-standing beef was quashed back in November. No more below-the-belts, no more ear biting.
Both superstars prepped and ready to go for Thursday (December 9) night’s mega-show, the Free Larry Hoover benefit show at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The event promises to be “a historical show and enlightening concert,” so says CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records, J. Prince. Considering that construction for the event has taken at least five days, it’s gearing up to a monster of a production. Even the ticket drama is ironed out.
All the better that the “Way 2 Sexy” rapper and the “Hurricane” rapper are at this point.
Prince and “The Bigger Picture”
While Drake and Ye have buried the hatchet, it was not without a moment of dramatics. Ye met Drake at his Toronto estate in November to finally end the feud. Bringing Drake to this point was none other than the “Houston boss,” J. Prince. As Prince also puts it to Billboard:
“I painted the bigger picture to Drake. I let him know that this is a moment and movement that can save lives…by Drake and Kanye being an example, as two of hip-hop’s top artists, that lives would be saved.”
Prince continued delving into the benefit show for Larry Hoover: “I believe this is going to be imitated and it’s important to be an example to those that look up to you, and that meant something to Drake — just the life-saving event wrapped around putting the spotlight on injustice, prison reform, and my brother Larry Hoover…So I had to tap into a power greater than the anger or whatever these guys had for one another.”
Ye vs. Drake vs. Ye vs. Drizzy vs. Yeezus vs. Champagne Papi
The long and storied beef of Ye and Mr. Graham covers a lot of ground. Diss tracks landing on the head of the other, then retaliation. Travis Scott and Pusha T are joining the fray, Drake leaking Ye’s new song just to have Ye leak his address. Drake is rapping to Kim Kardashian, then Ye taking and firing shots on Drink Champs. It’s all in the past.
The Free Larry Hoover Benefit concert will begin at 11 p.m. ET on Thursday night. It will stream for free on Amazon Prime Video and Twitch.
