Drake Reportedly Ink $19 Million Deal as Guest DJ for iTunes Radio
Drake wants to make sure he will be getting them big bands before he signs any deal. The Toronto rapper is in talks with Apple to sign a $19 million deal to be a guest DJ for iTunes Radio.
According to the New York Post, Drake is at the top of the list for Apple’s forthcoming new streaming service. The company will offer a free 3-month trial period, followed by a $10 per month subscription fee.
Apple is working with the labels to publish lyrics along with the streaming music, a deal they’re hoping translates to no cost to them from the publishing companies who own the rights. The Post also reports that Jay Z is in talks with other companies to merge his TIDAL service with, including one-time sponsor client, Rhapsody.
Pharrell Williams and David Guetta are reportedly also in talks to serve as guest DJs for the refurbish iTunes Radio. Apple is expected to announce the new service during its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8 in San Francisco.
