Chicago rapper Edai 600 was killed in a shooting
Chicago rapper Edai 600 was killed on the night of July 31st. Saycheese TV reports Edai died in the hospital after several gunshots to the back.
Edai 600, also known as Edai, was a drill artist from Chicago. He was among the pioneers experimenting and popularizing the genre. Back then, among other tracks, Edai released ‘Gucci’ featuring Chief Keef.
Edai was also one of the founders of Team 600. Its members include 600Breezy, Young Famous, and Jusblow. Chief Keef himself is or was a member of the group at some point. In 2014 and 2015, Team 600 released ‘In LA We Trust’ and ‘In LA We Trust 2′ mixtapes. Records were loud enough to make it to Russia and get references in the local group’s album name. Mixtapes include one of the most famous Edai’s tracks, ‘ War’.
Some artists responded to Edai’s death on social media. DJ Akademiks posted on Instagram, commenting, “RIP to Chicago rapper #Edai600.” FBG Duck’s mother went on social media and reportedly commented on Edai’s death as well.
Edai 600 is a legendary figure in the Chicago Drill scene and Hip-Hop industry overall. Edai’s legacy for the Culture is indescribable, and his death is a true tragedy for the genre.
