Eminem reached an important milestone in his career. This fall, the Detroit rapper will be inducted into 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is the only rapper on the list for this year. He enters the hall with fellow inductees such as Dolly Parton, Duran Duran, Carly Simon, and Lionel Ritchie. The rapper already has 15 Grammys, a Superbowl performance, and an Oscar under his belt. He’s an accomplished producer, musician, and actor. This is an impressive addition to his quarter-century-long career accomplishments. “It’s a happy moment,” said producer Denaun Porter. Porter and Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers III, have been friends nearing 30 years. They allegedly met back in 1995 when Mathers came to his house in search of instrumentals. Porter has been by his side ever since.

It’s a win for the home team.

The rapper managed to score a spot immediately after his first album, Infinite became eligible after 25 years. However, a sizable group of rappers was inducted before him.

The Rappers That Blazed A Trail For Eminem

Last year saw the likes of Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, and LL Cool J cement their careers in the Hall of Fame. However, these are far from being the first hip-hop acts to make the cut. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5 made history as the first rap group inducted into the hall. Since then, Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, and NWA, hit the same milestone. Solo acts, like 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G., also made the cut in 2017 and 2020.

This is impressive considering the history of people attempting to discredit the genre as a passing “fad.” This group of talents proves rap has forever changed the landscape of music and isn’t disappearing anytime soon. The induction ceremony is on November 5, 2022, in Los Angeles.
