Fetty Wap is having a good year so far, he stop by Hot 97 studio to talk Kanye West, My Way remix, his dreads, and more with Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg from Ebro in the Morning show.
On New Dreadlocks:
“They’re real dreads, but I didn’t grow them,” Fetty Wap says. “[It’s] a lady that I know from Newark, who cut her hair off. She was a powerful person to me. She spoke a lot of positive things. Since I did it, the last 50 songs I’ve recorded, they’ve all been some of the hottest songs I’ve did, just from the good energy I’ve been getting.
His relationship with Kanye West:
“Just good music. He told me he liked the song. He told the whole world that’s one of his favorite songs right now. I never was the type of person to keep bothering people. He’d just hit me periodically out of nowhere and be like, ‘Yo, bro, I’m proud of you,’ and I’d hit him and say, ‘Thank you for everything you did for me.'”
How “My Way” remix came about:
“Kanye text me and told me that he gave Drake my number,” Fetty says. I was going through my Instagram and I see it in the DM. He was like, ‘Yo, bro, I’m trying to get to you.’ And I sent him my number ASAP. From there, the way he came at me about even getting on the song. You know, certain people have certain power, if they want to just do it, they can just do it. It was just, like, way different. I wasn’t expecting that. The way he even asked me, ‘Yo, can I bless the track?
