#FMSports: Lakers - Western Conference Champions!

The Los Angeles Lakers become the 2020 NBA Western Conference Champions, putting an end to the team’s 10-year Finals drought. With a 117-107 win over the Denver Nuggets in Game 5, the 16-time NBA champions will once again have the opportunity to compete for a title–the franchise’s 32nd Finals appearance. We’ll have to wait for the results of the Boston Celtics at Miami Heat game later today to see which team Los Angeles will be competing against. So far, the Heat currently have the lead in a 3-2 series.

Lakers vs. Nuggets – Highlights

LeBron James (@kingjames) and Anthony Davis (@antdavis23) combined for 65 PTS for the Lakers, while Nikola Jokic put up 20 PTS for the Nuggets. James has now secured his 10th Finals appearance, joining Bill Russell (12), Sam Jones (11) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (10) as the only players in NBA history to make more than 10 Finals appearances.

“We’re gonna enjoy it tonight beacause this is not promised every year. There’s only two teams that can advance to the Finals every year and, I mean, there’s only pretty much thirty players that advance every year to the Finals so we’re gonna enjoy it tonight but we understand that we got bigger fish to fry. We understand there’s a bigger goal, but we can’t take this for granted because this doesn’t happen every year.” –Lebron James

Current Bracket

The NBA has set Game 1 for the NBA Finals to be Sept. 30, with each series played every other day except for a two-day gap between Game 4 and Game 5. This is subject to change if the Heat-Celtics series makes it to Game 7.
