Professional tennis player Naomi Osaka has teamed up with Netflix for her very own docuseries. The new show titled Voices of A Champion gives viewers a glimpse of her everyday life and other personal experiences. Voices of A Champion is directed by Oscar nominee Garrett Bradley. Apparently, this documentary has been in the works for years. It follows the tennis star’s life and career from 2019 to 2020.

This documentary is specifically important because of her impact. Before Voices of A Champion hit small screens, Osaka voiced how important it was to take a mental health break. In turn, she withdrew from the French Open and Wimbledon. Osaka also was plastered onto the front cover of Sports Illustrated, being the first Japanese and Haitian woman to do so.

Deep into the docuseries, fans alike will better understand the pressure that comes with being a notorious athlete. They’ll also see Osaka dominating her role to a tee as she wavers between wins and losses.

Naomi Osaka rose to stardom at 16 when she defeated former US Open champion Samantha Stosur in her WTA Tour debut at the 2014 Stanford Classic. Two years later, she reached her first WTA final at the 2016 Pan Pacific Open in Japan to enter the top 50 WTA rankings. Then, in 2018 she won her first WTA title at the Indian Wells Open. Later in the year, she beat Serena Williams in the US Open. Since then, she has won the Grand Slam singles title four times. On the court, Osaka has a forceful swing. Her serve can reach over 201 kilometers per hour (125 mph).
