The future of the NBA is about to get a whole lot brighter, with the 2018 NBA Draft set to go down tonight! A league that already features some of the most recognizable athletes under the age of 30, is about to add more star power.
Before the picks are announced, here are a few storylines that may impact who gets selected for what team:
Will the Kings trade down? I don’t think they will. No matter who goes #1 between Ayton or Doncic, the Kings are in prime position to Draft the new face of their franchise at #2. Unless they get blown away with a trade offer, they shouldn’t entertain a trade for this pick.
What will Cleveland do at #8? No matter what they do, it won’t impact what LeBron does in free agency. Best case, they take the best available player at 8. Trading back in NBA Drafts isn’t as successful as NFL Drafts, so I would recommend taking the best player left at #8 and hope it helps your case to keep LeBron.
Knicks pick #9: This might be the team to field the most calls about a trade. Knicks are in rebuild mode and will look to collect as many assets as possible. As a tortured Knicks fan I’m hoping for Porter Jr, Sexton or Mikel Bridges. 1 of the 3 would make this a successful draft night.
An All-Star will get traded tonight: That’s my bold prediction! Several teams in this draft have multiple draft picks in the 1st round and there’s too much cap space available for teams to sit still. Plus, there are 2 teams in L.A. with cap space, young talent, and draft picks, along with a certain superstar in San Antonio that wants to be traded and is from California
