#FMSpotlight: A Close Look At The 1800SafeSexxx Music Festival

Published

on

Contrary to the music festival’s name, 1800SafeSexxx was anything but a sex education crash course. In actuality, the event boasted highly talented musicians, eye-catching art, and vendors that sold authentic items like THC drinks and edgy clothes, to name a few.

Selekta XXX‘s objective for the festival was to foster mental stimulation and unity. She noted that the creatives not only showed up for the event but themselves. The idea of 1800SafeSexxx stemmed from wanting to get her name out there, but it became bigger than everyone.

She gives cred to LEMONADE & COMPANY, her project manager, Tasha, and partner Wilofthefuture from NOFA$ADE RECORDS

Additionally, Selekta XXX’s festival correlates with the single she dropped afterward titled “SEX IT UP!” The song represents 1800SafeSexxx’s high energy as it possesses house elements and a heart-pumping rhythm.

Overall, 1800SafeSexxx separated itself from other music gatherings. From the neon-colored aesthetic to outdoorsy decor, 1800SafeSexxx left room for others to bask in their creativity, kick back, and vibe. Furthermore, there was an animated poster and coloring book of the artists who performed, I thought it was pretty unique, and honestly, no one has ever done that before!

Never was there a dull moment. From the start, the festival’s aura gravitated to one’s spirit. People made friends, business connections and rooted the artists on for delivering incredible performances.

During my time at the festival, I interviewed Barry MarrowVincenaBoob MilesNOFA$ADEIHATEYOUSHEED, and JustFrenchie. You can check those out below, along with a brief description of their sound.

Barry Marrow:

Barry Marrow’s sound comprises a futuristic hip-hop feel to it. Never biting his tongue, the rapper speaks on personal experiences, his grind mentality, pushing against the current, all while calling out the opps. No matter the topic, Marrow delivers his rhymes with confidence. He makes one feel like they can do anything! I recommend you listen to him if you’re a fan of boom bap, trap, or alternative rap.

Vincena:

Vincena channels into her emotions to deliver raw lyrics about the highs and lows in loving and losing another. Calling her genre, Gypsy Funk, the singer remains fully honest while speaking to a lover about how a certain situation has impacted their union. Time and time again, she also showcases a strong suit of self-worth. Nothing can break her spirit. I recommend you listen to her if you’re a fan of neo-soul and R&B.

BOOB MILE$

Dubbing himself as the Local Vibe Dealer, BOOB MILE$ music seemingly follows the same pattern. A mesh of experimental hip-hop and melodic, the creative goes on the microphone and speaks about his infectious charm, ascending career, lavish lifestyle, and getting to the bag. Listening to Boob Mile$ will make you feel like the flyest person in the building. I recommend listening to him if you’re a fan of hip-hop, pop, or afrobeat.

NO FA$ADE:

NO FA$CADE is a collective, yet they are solo artists. Listening in, you’ll hear the individual talents they possess. Lyrically, the group put haters to rest, dropping warning bars that leave them running for the hills. They remain true to not only each other but themselves as they spit cut-throat lyrics. Also, the group highlight their undying work ethic and lifestyle. If you’re a fan of trap and hip-hop, you’ll definitely enjoy tuning into their sound.

IHATEYOUSHEED:

IHATEYOUSHEED’s sound cannot be pinpointed. In hindsight, it takes admiration from various genres. From a lyrical standpoint, IHATEYOUSHEED uses the pen and pad as a confidant. He opens up about various experiences, whether it be in love or life. Not to mention, the rapper vocalizes how important it is for someone to stay true to themselves. He’s aware of those who’ve been there since day one and those who are clout chasers. Not to mention, he often showcases his ambitious spirit and counts his blessings along the way. If you’re a fan of experimental hip-hop, definitely tune in.

JUSTFRENCHIE:

JustFrenchie wows you away with her nostalgic musical styling. Adhering to the truer qualities of a multi-faceted R&B singer, she lets her emotions spill over. Moreso, she speaks about life, love, and everything in between. Additionally, she lets listeners into her mentality, expressing her hopes and dreams. Although life has a way of knocking people down, JustFrenchie stands tall. Her confident approach toward trying situations only motivates listeners to do the same. If you’re a fan of neo-soul and R&B, she’s definitely someone you’ll want to tune into.
