Over the years, R&B artists have provided audiences with stories on the mishaps and fortunes of love. But more recently, they’ve gone in-depth about a partner’s deception or affectionate ways. 24-year-old Anna D’Anae happens to use a former lover’s excuse for mistreatment as ammo in her latest song, “Ahead Of Yourself.”
“Ahead Of Yourself” is a feel-good afrobeat offering that sees the songstress using an ethereal voice to confront her ex. Between lyrics, she says that she’s aware of her ex cheating on her. Initially, Anna’s then-boyfriend claimed that the girl she saw in his bed was just a friend, but Anna is smart enough to put two and two together,
“I want people to feel good when they hear ‘Ahead Of Yourself,'” Anna adds. “I want them to get up, dance, and have confidence! The song depicts calling out someone that’s getting ahead of themselves and the arrogance of ‘being the best they ever had.'”

As the song continues, Anna lays her cards on the table, telling him that she’s done dealing with him.
“You thought I was option/Now you ain’t even got one/But that is how it happens /Now its another problem,” she sings.
However, the “Falling” vocalist isn’t dwelling on this situation. Anna knows that she’s one in a million! He didn’t know what he had until it was gone. But now, it’s too late.
“I was looking to making a vibe, something simple and creative,” Anna says about “Ahead Of Yourself.” I wanted to make something akin to Rotimi’s ‘In My Bed’ because I hadn’t released any music in over a year! I found a fantastic instrumental by Leejo Beats. The rest is history!”
Anna D’Anae is a recording artist, model, and actress who’s fond of everything art-related. Her moniker is a mixture of her and her little sister’s name. “Anna is my nickname, and D’Anae is my sister’s middle name. I just put a lil spunk to it,” adds Anna.

Her first time in the studio was when she was 9-years-old, but she didn’t delve into music until she turned 18. During her time in college, Anna was on the hunt to be apart of a girl group, but it never worked out. And so she sought out to be a solo artist.
“I want people to feel good when they hear my music. I’ve always want to make my ladies feel sexy and confident. All-in-all, I want them to feel my passion and have that overcoming spirit no matter what.” she says.
Anna has some more debuts for her LoveBug Gang, which she calls her fanbase, but now it’s under wraps.
