Deemed as “one of the most lyrically talented rappers I’ve seen” by Beese Churger, amongst others, Jwalt is taking his rightful spot in the hip-hop scene. This statement especially presents itself in his song, “The Taking.”
Over the flute-led, upbeat trap instrumental, the Bay Area native vocalizes his dire need to become a notorious emcee. Given his sound and lyrical dexterity, he’s more than fit for the position. Using a bouncy cadence, he spits
“I feel the pressure, I ain’t got no option. I know that I’m destined for greatness. I’m done being patient, I mean what I’m saying. I swear that it’s mines for the taking (Ayy).”
As the song continues, he communicates how all eyes are on him. The co-signs and accomplishments he has made him a force to be reckoned with. Luckily, Jwalt is continuously putting the work in so he can propel himself to the next level.
“I got a lot of people watching me. My mama proud of me, some people doubted me. Ain’t nobody ever stopping me. Copy me, my people rock with me.“
He lists some of the achievements, even after the pandemic hit. He’s grateful for every opportunity coming his way.
“Stepped in the game with a plan and I made it appear. They say the future is clear. Opened for Nas at the Oracle, damn, what a year. A global pandemic, I opened for legends. I’m counting my blessings, I’m thankful I’m here. I cherish the present ’cause there ain’t no telling. So I’m living life, I ain’t living in fear.”
He concludes that this is only the start of his rap dominance.
