Listen: “Instagram Luv (feat. MBM Nate)

Jxhar shows women who think they can pull a fast one on him that he’s far from gullible in his latest song, “Instagram Luv (feat. MBM Nate).” The newest track will be assisted by a visual, but the release date is up for keeps.

He adds, “The message of the song is don’t fall in love with someone who only wants you for fame and money.”

Over the somber lo-fi offering led by a piano loop and flute percussion, Jxhar uses a singsong flow to tell potential love seekers that his focus isn’t to be cuffed but to continue elevating. He also cuts to the chase with these females, saying, “Bitches swear they love you when you poppin’ on the gram.”

About the song’s creation, he says

“One day, I was home in my room producing the beat, and randomly, I just started humming the melody for ‘Instagram Luv.’ So I recorded my hook real quick, and once I heard it, I knew it was something different. After I played the song a couple of times, I sent it to MBM Nate because I knew his verse was just what the song needed. My engineer Semi mixed the record. From that point, my team heard it, and they were all pretty hype about it, so I knew I had something special.”

He admits that they were sitting on this record for a while, but they knew it would be the perfect way to start 2021.

As the song continues, Jxhar expresses how aware he is of a certain woman’s treachery. In the end, he concludes that he won’t be feeding into her wishy-washy energy.

He spits, “Shawty only loves me when she needs me/Way you make some bread, n*ggas turn greedy.”

His feature, MBM Nate, ends the song on a good note and gets transparent with listeners, detailing his experience with a lady who wasn’t too sure of what she wants.

“Don’t say that you love me, then go dub me what you doing?/Tryna give you the world baby girl, but you blew it.”

“Me and MBM Nate went to high school together,” he says about their association. “Nate was one of the first people who supported me when I started making music, so once he began to too, it was just a matter of time until we linked up.”

Jxhar’s hometown is Baltimore, but he was raised in New York, giving the Big Apple credit for his musical influence.

“I’ve always admired Roc-A-Fella, Diplomats, and the Ruff Ryders,” he continues. “When I was younger, I remember seeing Ruff Ryders riding through Harlem, and I remember them throwing bandanas out as they would drive by. Just something as small as that is where you develop a passion for music. I think living in Harlem specifically influences my style.”

His musical journey dates back to when he was 16-years-old. Two of his friends were into music, and they suggested that he should try it out. Once he did, he fell in love. The first song he created was a freestyle over a beat a friend of his had made. His overall goal is to connect with people because a lot of music nowadays is fabricated.

Jxhar leaves aspiring musicians with this word of advice:

“Anything worth doing isn’t easy.”
