#FMSpotlight: Larro – “Escalade” (Listen)

Larro asserts his certified hitmaker status with confidence in “Escalade.” He takes pride in his success through an effortless triplet flow and quick-witted bars. The bell-centered production takes on an upbeat yet dark trap tone.

In two minutes and ten seconds, the rapper calls attention to the results of his hard work. He steers clear of any hate or drama that’s thrown his way. Instead, Larro keeps a tunnel vision on his dinero and progression.

He raps, “Playa n*gga since fifth grade/Never do what the bitch say/10k on a bad day/Mix the Henny with the D’usse,” he raps. “Yeah/My bitch looking better I’m stackin my cheddar/Yeah/My diamonds they shining they under the weather.”

Afterward, he uses vivid lyrics to give listeners an idea of his possessions, declaring that an opps’ ill intent won’t disturb his peace. Contrary to his peers, Larro is climbing up the charts with every record he drops. An antagonist can try breaking his spirit, but the musician will always prevail.

Elsewhere in “Escalade,” the “4 Doors” spitter serves up quotable bars about his views on relationships, women who’ve caught his eye, and money-making efforts. He keeps the momentum going with a slight flex, proving why it’s essential to be about your business.

Lines like these drive the narrative home:

“Got all of this bread I might open a deli,” and “I’m pulling more hoes than your favorite rapper/Having more shit than your favorite trapper/Stomping on shit like alpha kappa.”

Overall, “Escalade” exemplifies the power behind hard work and shutting out the noise. When you combine these two things, you’re bound to have the drive to live out your dreams. The doubts of those around you will be a thing of the past. When it’s all said and done, your actions need to mirror your ambition.
