Ghanian rapper M.anifest recently enlisted emerging Afropop musician Moliy and Chicago rapper/activist Vic Mensa for his blood-pumping Afrobeat meets hip-hop offering, “No Fear.” From a lyrical standpoint, the trio seemingly encourages listeners to take a leap of faith when pursuing their dreams. M.anifest even delivers this one line, “Couple wins come with a loss.” Even if there is a naysayer in sight, the three aren’t afraid to put them in their place.

Moliy uses an unbothered honeyed register to express that she could care less about a hater’s comments. She’s going to keep accomplishing her goals by any means necessary.

Vic Mensa taps into a laid-back cadence to express his moves to be where he is today. Despite not having much support, he put them on the back burner and kept working towards his dream. In the end, he ended up doing everything that everyone said he wouldn’t. His notoriety speaks volumes in the hip-hop game.

I manifested every single blessing/I put the legacy before the Lexus/They tried to play me like I wasn’t born for this, ’til I came out the cut like a C-section,” he raps.

M.anifest crossovers between a smooth tone of Potosi and English to talk about his come-up. Before the fame came in, M.anifest was putting in work to be in today’s position. That being said, there’s literally nothing that’ll bring down his hierarchy.

He spits, “When e come species, I’m rare, see, the boy too G, don’t awaken the bear (Woah)/Fidel to these infidels, onua can’t you tell?/I was fly before the fame, bruh/Two cedis to my name, but/No chicky ever told Diggy I’m a lame, I put in pain, bruh.”

Before the song closes, Moliy iterates that she’s a “legend in the making, very high-key.” Like the title suggests, nothing or no one can put fear in their hearts.

Circling back to the soundscape, “No Fear” gains support from ambient synths and a drum loop. M.anifest’s new single comes on the heels of his upcoming (untitled) EP.
