Watch: Mac Infinity – “Keep That (feat. Chief)”

Mac Infinity, a rapper based in Louisiana, recently dropped a music video for his song “Keep That (feat. Chief). In a nutshell, the two deliver bars about remaining unfazed by fake love that’s been permeating the air. Also, Mac Infinity and Chief expose haters that “be capping out your [their] a** for some retweets.” The beat is a mixture of warm boom-bap and lo-fi. Moreover, it transmits a light-hearted tone for the duo’s wordplay.

Mac Infinity starts off the dope record by dropping boisterous rhymes about wannabes and individuals who have changed their opinions about his music. They see Mac Infinity winning, which suddenly makes them starry-eyed. Regardless, the emcee isn’t giving their facades the time of day

He raps, “Y’all some hating n*ggas, tryna find some cheese rats/Middle finger up like ‘aye you can keep that.‘”

Towards the minute mark, he switches the flow, making it sound more conversational. Around this time, Mac opens up about his message in hip-hop. He even speaks about his work ethic.

Young n*gga on his grind, and he do it so unconventional,” he states along with “my story is relatable and inspirational.”

Chief, his go-to for the second verse, reflects on women who did him wrong before he succeeded. Elsewhere, he leaves warning bars for those who try testing him. Deeper into the song, the rapper reveals that nobody can disturb his peace. This information comes about when he spits,

“I’m just chillin inside my head, where my verses flow/I always put last.”

And in case any phonies try to claim that they’ve been around since the beginning, Chief drops this PSA,

I had to cut them out my life, I’m getting surgical/So don’t be screaming ‘encore’ when the curtains close.”

During his time on the microphone, the musician taps into a sing-song flow.

To end the record off on a sweet note, Mac Infinity becomes slightly vulnerable, saying, “I was really tryna find my way, now it’s really all smiles today.”

Ultimately, he shows listeners that optimism is the key to breaking free of this somewhat brainwashed society.

The music video finds Mac Infinity, Chief, and his boys in what seems to be a basketball tournament. There are also scenes where Mac Infinity is riding his bike around, delivering off a “special surprise,” and just chilling with his friends. You can even expect a short skit of two news anchors doing a play-by-play of the game.

Mac Infinity is a multi-hyphenate musician and scholar who was born and raised in Kansas City, KS. He intends to use his music’s longevity and craft to fund solutions for problems that have oppressed African-Americans and other minorities for (what feels like) a lifetime. In his spare time, the rapper reads, plays 2K, and edits videos without delay. With the support of his loving family, friends, and mentors, Mac strives to make his dreams and aspirations come true.
