Listen: Majorplaymaker – “Matrix Reloaded (feat. WhyThree)

Majorplaymaker is usually the one bringing forth crazy talented artists, but this time, he’s decided to put the spotlight on himself. Not too long ago, the hip-hop mogul premiered his first-ever single, “Matrix Reloaded,” which carries the same name as the 2003 American science fiction action film. He also enlisted WhyThree to drop some top-tier bars.

About “Matrix Reloaded,” Majorplaymaker says the message is that changing and focusing on being a better you is more vital than putting your attention elsewhere. His favorite line goes, “I’m protected by spirits.”

What sparked the creative process behind “Matrix Reloaded” was watching Matrix movies and going back and forth with the artist.

Majorplaymaker’s newest track finds him and WhyThree laying out honest rhymes about former relationships that changed their perspective on love. Though they have strong feelings for this special someone, their hearts are impaired. This factor, however, doesn’t stop the duo from working towards self-healing.

In a smooth auto-croon, one of them delivers, “Girl, I love you. We can be more than friends. Just let me fix it. My heart is damaged, baby. I wanna love you endless.”

The outcome of loving too hard has caused the two to be warier towards who they let in their lives.

As the song continues, the artists admit that  they’ve encountered fake individuals, but they choose to “mind his [their] business and get to the business.” Afterward, the duo address the craziness that’s happening in the world, thanking their lucky stars for being guarded. Elsewhere, the musicians admit to falling for a woman who should be off-limits. But, they can’t help it because she’s Fuego.

The duo then rap about their current deceitful lover, unveiling that she isn’t the same person they fell in love with.

I can’t lie. I miss the old you. I want to eat you up like soul food. You make me feel like I’m a nobody, and that’s why I treat you like an old body. Damn girl, you lie to me like you a homebody. And you belong to the streets.”

Sonically, “Matrix Reloaded” garners inspiration from hip-hop and lo-fi, pairing a stand-out flute percussion with somber piano loops, kick-snares, a steady bassline, and a brief bird caw. The beat was produced by Woodpecker

Music called Majorplaymaker at an early age. The serial entrepreneur was ultimately in awe by all the moving parts that the art form tied together. He finds inspiration in TupacFuture, and Kanye West

He adds, “Success motivates others to succeed. This is the only option I carry within myself.”
