#FMSpotlight: Michael Kraun – “The Run Around” (feat. Roman C.)

Michael Kraun, a rapper who takes an admirably vulnerable and uplifting approach to his wordplay, has officially released his single, “The Run Around.” The chorus in “The Run Around” serves as an affirmation, and the powerful vocals are sung by Roman C. 

The lo-fi meets jazz offering, produced by Accent Beats, finds the New York-based musician delivering introspective and relatable bars that focus on the dilemma behind aging and still chasing a dream. Regardless, he says nothing is getting in his way. He’s going to keep putting in the necessary work for his ideal job. 

“At the age of 27, where did time disappear?/Went from rhyming with peers, late-night chilling, vibing with beers/Now the ladder to the top is only higher this year/And I’ve been climbing for years/Hoping if I close my eyes long enough I will appear/Mama, please have no fear/Mama, I’m a keep grinding, my eyelids widen, I swear to God I’m defiant.“

As the song continues, Michael Kraun delivers rhymes of awareness about the younger generation and how the world’s focus has shifted onto insignificant matters. 

He also admits that there are times where he’s unmotivated. And yes, finances, especially in 2021, are scarce. However, Michael Kraun is “obsessed with my [his] quest.” So, he lets go of yesterday’s problems and focuses on what needs to be done today. With the support from his close friends, soon-to-be wife, and family, Michael Kraun pushes through, focusing on the bigger picture. He will make it by any means necessary. 

“Steady on my flight knowing success don’t come overnight like a red-eye/Hence why I write all through the night, don’t you notice these red eyes?/Can’t a kid from queens do it B.I.G like the kid from Bedstuy?“
