Dropping lyrical excellence over a soul-inspired R&B meets trap beat that samples Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come,” Shaun Sloan gets real introspective when speaking on his family’s dynamic, wishy-washy individuals, and fighting against the odds.
In “Tell Victory I Love Him,” Sloan uses a seamless flow to speak about his missions in life. Even when his sky turns grey, he looks at his son, and suddenly the sun shines bright. Sloan often raps in the song about being the best father he can be to his pride and joy.
As he vows to do right by his family, Sloan admits that sometimes darkness overshadows his life.
He spits, “Matter fact hold on/I gotta show my son I’m heavy/Gotta show his mom I love her/But life won’t let me.”
Following this, the “In The Sun” spitter speaks about channeling this pain into power. Yet, even when others switched up on him, the rapper remained solid. Never folding under pressure, Sloan details the evil that stems from greed. He also challenges his close ones to look beneath the surface.
He raps, “I know I’m hurt/I ain’t happy/Other people think I’m blessed/I know I make this sh*t look easy/But let me tell you ’bout this stress.”

As the song continues, he unveils that he’s been trying to cope with the pain. Although Sloan trusts the process, he can’t help but question the impact these moments have.
Sloan even says in this one line, “I know that it all comes with the game/I know that it all comes with pain.”
Before closing the song with powerful statements, he speaks about giving his all to Victory. Sloan promises to hand his son the world and then some.
These lines drive the narrative home “Always give you my last/I’m learning from mistakes/My son only two and he already a great.” and “I decide to give you my all/Fuck my ego and my pride now.”
