Well look who’s making a comeback! Mr. I Luv This Sh*t, a.k.a August Alsina, is has finally released a long awaited soundtrack titled Forever and a Day. Running 25-minutes long, the eight-track project projects Alsina’s vulnerable state. With sweet melodies, he sets the tone for a romantic occasion between him and a special someone. Alsina tributes ’the sensuality of 90s R&B on “For You,” while he pairs with Ty Dolla $ign for an admirable duet named “Control.”

But where has this heartthrob been all these years? He’s spent most of the years following 2014 working on dealing with his mental and health issues as he overcame opioid addiction and liver disease. On one particular episode of Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk,” Jada and her mother dished about their addictions. Louisiana musician August Alsina joined the women and all opened up about their struggles with sobriety. For Alsina, he became addicted to Percocet after collapsing on stage during a performance and credits Jada for helping him kick the habit.
“I was literally raining pills,” he said. It was a phone call from Jada that finally turned him around. Since overcoming his addiction and restoring his health, Alsina has also dealt with loss through the years. He lost his brother to gun violence in 2014 and at the end of 2018 he lost his brother’s wife to cancer. He has been raising his neices as his own ever since. I’m not sure how he found the time to come back to the music game, but we sure did miss him. I admire his dedication to his music and especiallty to his family.
