Beyoncé Did It Again!

Late Thursday night, Beyoncé shared her new remix to the hit “Mi Gente” with the world. Queen B blessed us with her feature and also donating all of the proceeds from the song to Hurricane relief charities.

Beyoncé sings a significant portion of the song in Spanish showing off her versitle bilingual skills. Some verses about the cause are in English as well. “Lift up for people/ from Texas, Puerto Rico/ Dem islands to Mexico/ Slay.”

In the midst of all the Hurricanes and Natural disasters Beyoncé still managed to collaborate with Columbian reggaeton artist J Balvin and French producer Willy Williams. Using all three of  their platforms, they joined to help those suffering. In my opinion, this uptempo reggaeton remix brought hope to those affected.

Beyoncé is the most notable and latest celebrity to send money and resources to the people affected by the earthquake in Mexico, Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria. According to her website it includes links directing fans to fundraising sites to help the victims.

During the Hand in Hand telethon on September 12, Beyoncé made a plea to viewers to come together to help.

“During a time where it’s impossible to watch the news without seeing violence or racism in this country, just when you think it couldn’t possibly get worse, natural disasters take precious life, do massive damage and forever change lives, leaving behind contaminated water, flooded hospitals, schools and nursing homes,” she said in a pre-recorded message before urging fans to “come together in a collective effort to raise our voices, to help our communities, to lift our spirits and heal.”

Although it will take more than a song to fix millions of dollars worth of damage, it’s the thought that counts! The song already has over 8 million views on Youtube. It is also available for streaming on Tidal.
