#FMTrends Cardi B makes B$G Money Moves!

CardiB trademarks “Okurr”

Cardi B has never played around about her money. She landed her first role as an actress in the New York stripper saga Hustlers, alongside Jennifer Lopez. Now it seems she has more projects in the works, as the rapper is seeking to trademark her catch phrase. Cardi B is legaling claiming her signature phrase “Okurrr.” The rapper has officially filed an application to trademark the word/sound via her company Washpoppin, Inc. The word, or shrill sound, has become a huge part of her brand.

The Catchphrase that started a Wave

During an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Cardi described the now-iconic phrase as the sound of a “cold pigeon in New York City.”

Her Super Bowl Pepsi commercial was based on “Okurrr” as she encouraged a room full of fans in a diner to mimic her pronunciation of the phrase.

Surprisingly, some fans have been throwing backlash at Cardi for this money move. In response, the rapper took to her social media to respond. “Hoes is mad because I trademark ‘Okurrr’? Let me tell you something. Every single time I go to a corporate meeting, these folks be like, ‘Oh my god, can we please hear you say ‘Okurrr’?’

“Every time I go to a TV show: ‘Hey, hey, can you teach me how to say ‘Okurrr’?’ Every time I go do a commercial: ‘Hey, can you finish it off with ‘Okurrr’? You think I ain’t gonna profit off this shit?! Bitch, white folks do it all the motherfucking time, so you gonna be mad at me cos I wanna get some motherfucking money?”

She continued to explain that she was going to “secure all the fucking bags” while she was still working. “Let me give you a secret too,” she added. “It’s 2019 bitches, there’s a lot of ways to get rich. You’ve got to get yourself some business, stop minding motherfucking others’.”

The trademark would mostly cover merchandise with seperate filings covering clothing and even mispellings of the term. I don’t know about you, but I agree with Cardi, 2019 means nothing but money moves.
