Joe Fox Lets Us Know “What’s The Word” With Nas

The revolution will not be televised, even though social media and television say different.  With all the events happening, especially under the so-called “Trump Regime”, (NFL protests, NBA athletes protesting, police brutality among the minorities, the events in Charlottesville, Virginia) this was definitely needed.  Not late great Gil Scott Heron, but something for our generation.  The soulful singer-guitarist from London, England, first discovered by A$AP Rocky, dropped a revolutionary banger yesterday, that leaves the listener’s ear reminiscent of the 1960s. With the classic guitar rifts and 1960ish percussions, mixed with the vocals of Mr. Revolutionary Nas.  “What’s The Word” is a question we ask ourselves, as we watch the events unraveling in our society.

The English crooner mixes positivity enwrapped with power with this ever-classic track.  Nas fans are definitely in for a treat with the Queensbridge emcee.  Nastradamus delivers us that raw, “power-to-the-people”, “we got to stand up for rights in this society” type of vibe.  Bars always phenomenal and poetic with the facts and reality of the situation at hand.  Nothing out of lane for the Illmatic rapper.  The only thing missing from this track is a video filled with raised fists, maybe some clips of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, the Black Panther Movement, afros and Africa beads.

Now as we all know, when it comes to being featured,  the Ether emcee is very choosy.  So for him to jump on this revolutionary track, he had to know it was going to be amazing.  Joe Fox has a voice that has a sweet blend of Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Dylan, with a style like Gil Scott Heron and the Beatles.  In my opinion, he would be all the greats from the revolution of our people, wrapped in one for this generation.  I hope to hear more music from this talented artist.
