#FMTrends: Roc Nation’s New Flower Rapsody

Roc Nation’s New Flower Rapsody

I think we found a winner!! Rapsody, one of the newest editions to the Roc Nation Family is giving us something we haven’t seen in Hip Hop for a while; real lyricism.  I wouldn’t want to try to put Rapsody into a category like people tend to do with female rap artist.  What I can say is that Hip Hop has not felt the type of energy Rapsody carries since the world fell in love with The Misunderstanding of Lauren Hill.

“Laila’s Wisdom” is Rapsody’s first release since signing with Roc Nation in 2016. Don’t let that date fool you, although this is her first project with Jay-Z heavy hitting Roc Nation team; Rapsody has released  seven different projects within  three years; she working. Rapsody recently shared with Billboard Magazine the “Laila’s Wisdom”was completed prior to the deal with Roc Nation even being official.

“My new album, “Laila’s Wisdom” hones in on a particular family value passed down from my Grandmother, Laila; ‘Give me my flowers while I can still smell them’. Through this album, I hope to pass these flowers on to you.”

With features from Kendrick Lamar, Black Thought, Anderson .Paak and Busta Rhymes “Laila’s Wisdom” has such an aura of pure positive energy. Every track is blessing you with something you needed to hear and with super producer 9th Wonder for Jamla Records the seed has definitely been planted for Rapsody’s future in the rap game.

“Power” which features Kendrick Lamar and Lance Skiiiwalaker

“No one can take your power even if a storm occurred
It ain’t man-made, but whether or not you paid don’t help or hurt
It’s a perk
Jamla Squad written on my shirt
I got a lane but all the lines around me dotted, I can merge
I can do what you can but you can’t do the same with words
As I, now watch my street cred go multiply
They say the streets respect the real ones”

If you haven’t already make sure you check out Rapsody’s  “Laila’s Wisdom” on Tidal Now!
