If you’re wondering how Forbes formulates their list, They calculate the earnings from June 2014-June 2015 based on data from Nielsen SoundScan, Pollstar, the RIAA and from interviews with managers, lawyers, executives and a handful of the artists themselves. The revenue generated from: touring, record sales, streaming, publishing, merchandise sales, endorsements and other business ventures is factored in prior to tax cuts.
