The beef can get rough. There’s no telling where rivalry ends and where actual malice begins. Take the Freddie Gibbs and Akademiks beef. What started out as a hot take by Gibbs spiraled into an all-out war of words, with Gibbs getting the upper hand. Though this only came after some severe back-and-forth action on Twitter and Instagram.

In short, Freddie Gibbs thinks Akademiks runs his mouth and can’t back it up, while the DJ rails against Gibbs for being too big for his britches.

However, in November, Gibbs took a severe step when posting alleged death threats against Akademiks on Twitter. Perhaps it’s a good time to strike a new deal with the iron hot: a celebrity boxing match.

Freddie Gibbs vs. Akademiks

During an interview on Million Dollaz Worth of Game, Akademiks said he would fight Freddie Gibbs if the money was right. Gibbs was quick to respond on Twitter with the following tweet:

For Freddie, money is not on his mind. Nor is the glory of defeating an opponent in the ring of honor. Instead, Freddie Gibbs wants Akademiks to retire. Appearing on ESPN’s Jalen and Jacoby, Gibbs made his goals clear:

“I don’t want no money. If I win, I just want Akademiks to delete his Instagram and delete his Twitter and leave the rap game.”

What’s more, the Indiana rapper feels good about his chances of coming out on top. “DJ Akademiks, I’m a solid 185 (lbs.),” Freddie Gibbs said. “DJ Akademiks a soft 204 (lbs.), so I think that we could make that fight happen.” Gibbs went on to say that the money from the fight could be donated to charity.

The Alfredo rapper also commented on his beef with Akademiks. In short, it’s not entirely serious, but it’s certainly not just for fun. Gibbs remarked, “It ain’t a real beef, I’ll say that.”

There is no word on dates, times, or prospects for the fight, but stay tuned. While no poll has been taken here at FMHipHop, I would hazard a guess that the staff’s money is on Gibbs.
