Music industry veteran Todd Moscowitz recently announced that he has launched his own label, Cold Heat Records. While Moscowitz is best known for his leadership roles at hip-hop labels 300 Entertainment, Def Jam, and Violator, his new endeavor will not limit itself to one genre. Partnering with Moscowitz is Universal Music Group, whom he credited with creating “an environment that encourages risk-taking and pushing creative boundaries, while giving entrepreneurs the resources and freedom to grow.” While general manager of Def Jam records, Moscowitz oversaw the company’s sale to UMG. “I’m thrilled to be a part of the most forward-thinking team in the industry, and I’m looking forward to building Cold Heat Records into a preeminent destination for artists of all genres,” Moscowitz continued.
In 2013, the New York native co-founded 300 Entertainment with industry bigwigs Lyor Cohen, Kevin Liles, and Roger Gold. However, two months ago, Cohen announced that he was stepping down from his CEO position at 300 to become YouTube’s Global Head of Music. Distributed by Atlantic Records, 300 Entertainment currently represents Young Thug, Fetty Wap, Migos, and others. Cold Heat Records has not yet revealed its artist roster.
