Aya Jones, Lineisy Montero & Imaan Hammam Cover Teen Vogue!
#BlackGirlsRock and obviously now, Teen Vogue thinks so. The August cover of the magazine was just released, sporting the headline, ‘Fashion’s New Faces’, introducing us to three fresh faces in the industry, all whom happen to be women of color.
While I never want to get stuck on color, I do love to see everybody represented in mainstream media and industry’s, and it’s no secret, women of color are scarce in mainstream modeling.
Site, Fashionista, pointed out that Teen Vogue has an eye for recognizing and putting on talent. A short list includes the February 2008 cover with Karlie Kloss, Chanel Iman and Ali Michael, all of which are household names now.
This time the beauty includes, Aya Jones, Lineisy Montero and Imaan Hammam. Aya Jones is from Paris, France, Lineisy was discovered in her home country, Dominican Republic, and Imaan, although born in Amsterdam is half-Egyption and half-Moraccon. An enchanting mix of women of color.
Lineisy Montero can also be spotted in Prada’s current FW15 ads.
