Today marked the closure of GMA’s week-long homage to Hip-Hop. It was a signature event ending with performances from hip-hop legends.
Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Remy Ma, and BIA brought the festivities to a pinnacle, like the skilled musicians they are. The artist’s performances were electrifying.
GMA Announces Week Honoring Hip-Hop
GMA garnered mad appreciation upon announcing efforts to celebrate the culture with a special week honoring 50 years of excellence. Jeezy and Offset kicked off the week proper. Additionally, other noteworthy figures in the industry contributed, engaging in thought-provoking discussions with cultural significance.
However, the highlight of what was to come kept fans tuned in, and today marked the culmination. And the hip-hop elite seized the moment.

Busta Rhymes didn’t come to play, performing some of his hottest numbers, “Look at me now,” “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See,” and his new track “Beach Ball” featuring BIA. Undoubtedly, he came to cement why his lyrical skills were unmatchable. Only now, he let the lyrics do the work, thrilling the crowd laid back and in charge.
Fat Joe and Remy Ma came to remind people what hip-hop royalty looks like with their performance of “All the Way Up.”

And to add extra flourish, Joe Zee and Tiffany Reid showed the people what Hip-hop flavor has brought to the table. Their premiere fashion show was top tier. These two professionals took their time delving into fashion-forward choices popularized by esteemed “hip-hop tastemakers” such as Run-DMC, MC Lyte, Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliot, Lil Kim, and Busta Rhymes.
Their insightful dive into iconic fashion choices elevated the presentation. And the highlight was how notable figures have sculpted the trajectory of fashion history globally over the years.
GMA’s Celebration of Hip-Hop: A Week to Remember
Admirably GMA’s week-long dedication to hip-hop was timely and also noteworthy. And by now, there is no denying Hip-hop has and will continue to play a crucial role in shaping broader society. And in attempting to encapsulate the profound contribution of this genre, Busta Rhymes also provided an impeccable summary.
According to Rhymes, “Beyond the rap music, break dancing, the slang talk, he wants people to understand that [hip-hop] is a global culture with “real, deep spirit” and “mentality.””
As Rhymes also went on to note, at its core, hip-hop has been a transformative force positively impacting lives to the point of saving them. And what better is there to sum up Hip-hop’s monumental impact?
