Gucci Mane (@laflare1017) announced on Twitter last night that he won’t be stepping in the Verzuz (@verzuztv) arena unless he gets paid big bucks. He made it clear that the Verzuz battle seems pointless to him since he can’t find an opponent who is worthy. See the tweet below.
Although the rapper has grown and become more mature, some of his precipitous qualities seem to show through at times. It’s assumed that he would be willing to Verzuz battle whoever for the right amount of money, so it’s clear that his disinterest is directly correlated with how much he’ll get paid. Verzuz is an American webcast series that was created earlier in the year by producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. The two faced off in the first DJ battle of the season in Episode 1, launched solely through Instagram Live Streams. There are 20 episodes in the first season, and Season 2 is said to come out this November, featuring T.I. vs Jeezy. The cultural phenomenon was created this March 2020 in an attempt to keep music and rap battles rolling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland truly changed the game by setting legendary artists against one another in a safe and competitive manner. Artists featured in Season 1 include Snoop Dogg vs. DMX, Rick Ross vs. 2 Chainz, Babyface vs. Teddy Riley, Jill Scott vs. Erykah Badu, and Brandy vs. Monica. The events had hundreds of thousands of people tuning in on their Instagram Live, and sometimes even millions.
If Guwop does decide to go head-to-head, who do you think could give him a run for his money?
