Gucci Mane and Jeezy ending their beef was a massive move for the culture. What goes up must come down, and Gucci Mane may be the culprit. On his newly released track, “Rumors,” featuring Lil Durk, Gucci Mane mentioned Jeezy’s deceased friend, Pookie Loc.

“D.A. dropped my murder, didn’t have evidence to prove it…Nah. I think my house is haunted, yeah, by who? The ghost of Pookie, Woah,” LaFlare raps.

In May of 2005, instead of celebrating the release of his album Trap House, Radric Davis was heading to turn himself to Dekalb County Police. This cause to action stemmed from him allegedly killing Henry Lee Clark III. Witnesses collaboratively claimed Gucci was the Jeezy’s friend shooter and that his gun also partook in the shooting. Other claims conclude that some of his crew staged the robbery and killing instead.

Gucci’s defense Dennis Scheib gave a statement eluding Mr. Davis as the victim acting out of self-defense. Ultimately, the court charged him for murder but acquitted him later on. MTV gave an account of the story when it broke in 2005.

“Icy”

“Icy” was a well-known song that made any hood jump when released. It made Gucci’s debut album, Trap House, the one buy. However, Jeezy’s feature on Gucci Mane’s song did not purchase the rights to add it to his album. Namely, Zaytoven, the song’s producer, had the ball in his court.

DJ Vlad sat down with Zaytoven to account for Jeezy’s attempt to buy the song. Indeed, Jeezy was already a famous commercial artist, but Zaytoven’s loyalty remained with Gucci. “Well, you got to think, Gucci, this is my guy, this a guy that come to my house…730 in the morning every day,” he said.

Gucci “Verzuz” Jeezy

The latest recount of a Pookie mention was at the Verzuz battle between Gucci and Jeezy. The smooth end to the night was embraced but unforeseen. Blows between the two didn’t seem far off with steamy rap lyrics and back and forth banter.

Gucci’s widely known diss track to Jeezy, Truth, was performed, which name drops Pookie. This moment toppled tension that created a significant moment in the rap culture.

Complex recounted Jeezy’s reaction after the rap battle surrounding his interview with The Breakfast Club. Jeezy calmly talks about the situation with Gucci Mane. “You can’t antagonize me with something that we both understand cause I’m not in the same mental space as I was 20 years ago, and I know I can’t let you take me there. He continued, “That would have been the biggest upset in my life because I have self-control, and I’m very self-aware.”

All in all, these two rappers laid significant groundwork for putting Trap music on the map. With Jeezy’s understanding following Verzuz, we can only hope this new Gucci release won’t move a mountain.
