Life as the “Pretty Friend”
We all know what people mean as the “pretty friend.” Some wishing they had that honorary title yet, those with the title wish they can pass it on. Being the pretty friend isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
There’s always the three C’s that take place: The Compliments, The Copying, and The Competition.
The Compliments:
The compliments are the first domino in this domino effect. The compliments from men/people will make your friend(s) jealous and will want to work to become better or become like you. Internal struggles like self-esteem can also trigger the copying, and competitive behavior.
The Copying:
This can also happen, because they want to receive the same attention that you do. There will be similar outfits, similar shoes, hairstyles, or makeup. I think this tends to happen when a friend may be trying to find out who they are. But it’s also complicated because you enjoy being your own person. You don’t need someone else trying to steal your shine.
The Competition:
This is when your friend(s) begin to compete with you, and you don’t even realize you’re in the middle of a competition. After a while you notice they try to get more attention than you. It’s a constant game on who gets better clothes, better makeup, or even more friends.
As the pretty friend, it’s still your job to be a friend. Sometimes this can occur and it may have nothing to do with jealousy. That’s when you accept them and understand why they are behaving this way. Other times it can be pure jealousy and that’s when you ditch ‘em. No jealous broads in my circle.
