#HipHop4Her: Moving On Can Be Healthy

When people think of moving on, they generally think of moving on from a bad relationship. But moving on can mean so many things when it comes to dealing with life. A person can be moving on from so many things. Moving on to a new apartment, to a new job, new friendships, and the most common— new loves. Although moving on can be difficult and at times unbearable, it’s a part of life and I might even say it’s essential. People change everyday so why shouldn’t their lives change with them? Change allows for growth and for more lessons to be learned.

It’s like that security blanket we cling to as children, and we just can’t seem to let go. But in the end we realize that moving on from that security blanket wasn’t so bad after all. As people we become comfortable in situations, we adjust to a daily routine, the work we do, and the people around us. So the idea of moving on from that scares us because we don’t know what to expect from it. Sometimes straying from the path we’re used to walking on  invites new opportunities to come knocking on our door.

Staying stagnant in life doesn’t allow for a person to know themselves better or learn how to handle certain situations when dealing with a crisis and even how they behave toward unforgettable moments. Everyone loves the idea of stability and security. A person can have that and still experience changes in life. I believe that the reason why so many people are afraid of moving to the next step is due to being comfortable. But we can’t allow comfort to hold us back.
