Chadwick Boseman’s Master’s class to be offered at Howard University.
Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick, Howard University President, recently spoke to news sources about approving Boseman’s passion project. Apparently, the approval follows the university’s decision to rename their fine arts college the Chadwick Boseman College of Art.
This masterclass does not merely have Boseman’s name attached.
According to sources, Boseman spent a lot of time developing the class before his death. In fact, he made the pitch to the university. And, he had every intention of being active in the process. Unfortunately, he was unable to carry out that dream. However, we can assume that the class is Boseman’s way of paying it forward! It is no secret that Chadwick built his foundation at Howard University. Howard is where he found mentor Phylicia Rashad of Cosby Show fame. And Howard is without a doubt where he learned the significance of paying it forward from the one and only, Denzel Washington.
This masterclass is definitely an expression of purpose and passion.
Towards the end of his life, Boseman exhibited undefinable grace under challenging circumstances. Unbelievably, despite his medical prognosis, he kept on without excuse. Not only did he continue acting but working on a master class to empower that drive in future generations. And as sources indicate, the course promises to help students become successful through mentors much like himself.
His contributions have built a lasting legacy.
Boseman gave us James Brown, Thurgood Marshall, and Jackie Robinson in the movie treasures Get on Up, Marshall, and 42. And became a cultural icon and hero as T’challa in Marvel’s The Black Panther. With that role, he proved he had the stuff only heroes are made of. Of course, heroes do not only move with passion but also purpose, as did Boseman.
And we applaud Howard University for contributing to his dream and legacy.
