Idris Elba Responds To Critics That Said He Is “Too Street”
When you hear the name Idris Elba, the words that come to mind is classy, handsome and successful. However, Anthony Horowitz, the writer of the latest Bond book Trigger Mortis, thinks the British actor is “too street” to play the classic Bond character.
“Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better. For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a color issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.”
Wow, what an ignorant statement. But Horowitz made a statement after pissing people off and just like every other celebrity, he apologized.
“I’m really sorry my comment about Idris Elba have caused offense. That wasn’t my intention,” he said. “I was asked in my interview if Idris Elba would make a good James Bond. In the article I expressed the opinion that to my mind Adrian Lester would be a better choice but I’m a writer not a casting director so what do I know?”
Sometimes keeping your mouth closed is better than speaking your mind. Idris, the classy man that he is, responded back on an Instagram picture and captioned
“Always Keep Smiling!! It takes no energy and never hurts! Learned that from the Street!! #septemberstillloveyou.” Bravo Idris, it takes a classy man to show people what it’s like to have CLASS!
