Exclusive: Interview w/ Chicago’s own The Boy Illinois

While he’s on tour, FMHipHop got the chance to catch up with Chicago’s very own The Boy Illinois. It was a pleasure speaking with him and we thank him for having the time to talk to us especially since he’s on tour with the one and only Lupe Fiasco.

We got to learn some things about the rapper that some of you may not have known. He attended college for two and a half years and ended up leaving to pursue music. His dad was also a musician and supported his decision but The Boy Illinois kept him leaving school a secret for a year! I’m not sure how he was able to manage that secret

He is such a laid back and humble person and you can tell just by his answers and he tells you that he remains humble and patient due to the fact that it is so easy to mess up in this industry.

He’s collaborated with people like Twista and Tekitha from Wu Tang Clan. A new project is in the works with him and Twista in the near future. The Boy Illinois is still on tour with Lupe until mid February. Listen to the interview below.

***Fun fact: The Boy Illinois has been a vegetarian for 3 months. He started out as a pescatarian.  He said the switch has given him more energy. ***
