This week, Isaiah Rashad gave us the music video for his single, ‘Headshots (4r Da Locals).’ This is the second single for his upcoming album, ‘The House is Burning.’

This song is exactly what Zay’s fans have been waiting for. Though the first single, ‘Lay Wit Ya,’ is a banger, it isn’t the vibe that we all know and expect from TDE’s token southerner. ‘Headshots’ feels like it came right off of ‘Cilvia Demo,’ with its hazy production and Zay’s gentle delivery. The song’s content doesn’t demand much, allowing Zay to ease you into the psychedelic atmosphere of the song. Overall, he sounds happier, less stressed, and ready to put out some more great music.

The video complements the song perfectly. Like the single cover, much of the video takes place at an AA meeting but constantly transitions. The settings range from a nice bar to a sweeping desert land and plenty of quiet town scenery shots. There is a visual motif of holes, whether it be the barrel of a gun. The whole thing is a constantly entrancing experience pulled off by sweeping camera movement, working in perfect harmony with the vocals.

Zay on the way?
Though Isaiah told the world that the LP is coming in June, he’s got just shy of a week left to make the mark. Although ‘Lay Wit Ya,’ ‘200/Warning,’ and now ‘Headshots (4r Da Locals)’ are keeping us mad busy, we’re THIRSTING out here! With Rashad hitting his most consistent month in five years, we really hope that he’s just getting started.
Until that day comes, it looks like we’re gonna keep spinning these tracks back with our fingers crossed! Click here to see Zay’s appearance on Kenny Beats’ The Cave!
