Issa Gold of The Underachievers delivers new solo project

Issa Gold is back with a new solo project

During the golden age of internet hip-hop, The Underachievers were one of the most interesting young acts in the game. Comprised of Issa Gold and AKTHESAVIOR, they made waves with mixtapes like Indigoism and Lords of Flatbush.

Following their popular mixtapes, the duo continued to release music both as a group and as solo artists. They also released a collaborative project with Flatbush Zombies in 2014.

Issa Gold released Conversations with a Butterfly in 2014, which served as his only solo project for years.

Today, the Brooklyn native has returned with his first full project since that mixtape: Tempus.

His new project is highly personal

On Tempus, which is 11 tracks long, Issa Gold gets very personal over some dark production. The project’s cover art calls it a “diary,” stating “It is about the emotions felt while moving through the SEASONS of life, and the changes we all experience through TIME.”

The project includes production from Chuck Strangers (of Pro Era fame) as well as Two Fresh, Matt Zara, Micah Jasper, DJ Skizz and the late Boxing Fetish.

Check out a live rendition of “Cold Summer,” one of the album’s standouts, below.
