Issa Rae Announces Insecure Ends At Season 5
Issa Rae’s hit show, Insecure, is ending after five seasons. Rae is the first to announce this alongside her Prentice Penny. Giving the exclusive to Deadline. Issa says, “Prentice and I are so grateful that HBO believed in our show from the beginning and kept faith in us to see our vision through the end.” She claims that herself and Prentice always meant to “tell the story in five seasons.” The script is officially finished and they are set to go into production later this month (January). Issa continues by saying, ” feel blessed beyond measure to bring our characters’ stories to an end, on-screen at least.”
The returning cast includes Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales, and Alexander Hodge. For those of you who need a summary, Insecure the TV show is based on Issa Rae’s web series: Awkward Black Girl, Insecure. The story follows the life of Issa’s character and her best friend, Molly.
Issa and Penny seem to be excited to end the show. They say, ““We always planned to tell this story through five seasons, but we couldn’t have made it this far without the tremendous support of our audience. I feel blessed beyond measure to bring our characters’ stories to an end, on-screen at least.”
