To jumpstart NYC Homecoming Week, which runs from August 14th to 22nd, New York City, the Universal Hip Hop Museum, and IDEKO have created the “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC” free concert series in the Bronx. Each concert carries a slew of hip-hop, Latin freestyle, dance, freestyle, techno, and funk artists. The performances will be in the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and Queens.
In the words of Mayor Bill de Blasio, the first 1,000 people to purchase tickets and attend the concerts will win a free, limited edition “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC” t-shirt.
Attendees will also experience live temporary art installations by local street artists curated by Thrive Collective. Moreover, food is served by the Bronx Night Market at Orchard Beach and Hester Street Fair at Midland Beach and Brooklyn Army Terminal.
The free concert series, hosted by iconic Video Music Box’s Ralph McDaniels, is at outdoor venues. Behind the Rhyme, a channel on Twitch, is live streaming the entire thing. For the concerts, they have Planet Fitness, Resorts World as sponsors. You can buy tickets at nyc.gov/HomecomingWeek .
