“J. Cole is signing contract with the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League, the rap star’s second consecutive year playing professionally,” Charania’s sources also report. “CEBL training camp began this week, with season opener on May 26.”
Scarborough Shooting Stars’ season starts on May 26th. It will be an excellent opportunity to see how deep J Cole’s affiliations with basketball are.
J Cole’s Pathway To Joining Basketball Games
This is also not the first time Cole has picked up a ball on a professional team. In 2021 the artist played with the Basketball Africa League; J Cole joined the Rwanda Patriots at the time.
Playing for the BAL basketball team then caused some criticism towards J Cole. Terrell Stoglin, another BAL player, also had something to say regarding Cole’s game.
“I think there’s a negative and a positive,” the basketball player explained. “The negative part of it is: I think he took someone’s job that deserves it,” Stoglin explained. “For a guy who has so much money and has another career to just come here and average, like one point a game and still get glorified, is very disrespectful.”
However, the basketball player also pointed out the positive outcomes. “The positive side of it is: it brings a lot of attention and, I guess, money,” he stated. “I don’t really pay attention to that type of stuff. I’m more [concerned that] he took someone’s job that deserved it.”
