One of the best lyricists has disappointed fans by not releasing music by the end of 2020, especially J Cole on “The Fall Off” that many have waited for. Before the end of the year, he did post a picture in his journal of his plans. From the post titled “The Fall Off Era,” following them are “Features” “ROTD3”, which have been crossed out. What remains on the list are “The Off-Season,” “It’s a Boy,” and finally, “The Fall Off.” Fellow artists commented under his post in their own excitement.
Three projects on the way, but with good news, there’s always a downside to things. With the showing of his next projects, there is also a hint at him retiring soon. J Cole teased “The Fall Off” in November of 2019. His caption reading, “I still got some goals I gotta check off for’ I scram,” pushes the thought of it. In an essay for The Players’ Tribune,”…The best rapper I could possibly be before hanging up my jersey, leaving nothing on the table when all was said and done. The seeds for The Fall Off were planted.”- July 21, 2020
What could his retirement before “The Fall Off” for J Cole consist of? No one knows, but the upcoming projects will likely be based on his experience as an artist and family. Following this post, he shared on January 5th, the beginning of his Off-Season. Who knows how long his Off-Season will last but will hopefully deliver this year when needed most. As a fan of his, I hope he spreads his knowledge to help artists get a better grounding in the industry.
