Even though Nipsey Hussle passed away, ‘The Marathon Continues’ and his right-hand man is here to pick up the movement. J. Stone has been making his mark on hip-hop since 2019!
Best Friends
On March 31, 2019, Hussle was shot and killed in front of his own business complex. The world was in shambles and could not believe the mogul wasn’t here with us anymore. Just like everyone else in the All Money In team, Stone was devastated! He and Nipsey grew up together and the two started their rap careers at the same time. The Grammy nominated artist revealed how he and Stone use to make music to start out. One day Nipsey would rap and J.Stone would engineer, then the following day Nipsey would engineer while J. Stone would rap. They kept doing that because Hussle was tired of running from the booth to the equipment just to record a song.
As Nipsey progressed in Hip-Hop, J. Stone wound up in prison. He watched his friend flourish from behind bars and once his time was served, Nipsey picked him up. The two went straight to the studio per Stone’s request. Hussle held it down for Stone and now it feels like Stone is returning the favor even though the “Griding All My Life” rapper is no longer here with us.
J.Stone’s Time
The same year Nipsey was murdered, Stone dropped The Definition of Loyalty six months later. A verse from Nipsey is featured on the album as Stone keeps Nip’s Marathon theme going in each song. The album involves artists that Hussle has worked with before as well. The following year, he linked up with Pacman da Gunman, another All Money In member, forGround Zero. He kept up his work ethic and a few months later, Stone released his own album,The Definition of Pain. Like The Definition of Loyalty, the artists featured on this album also have done songs with Nipsey. This includes T.I., Dave East, Dom Kennedy, and Trae tha Truth.
In 2021, J.Stone continued his Stoney Montanaseries from 2017 by dropping both Stoney Montana 2 and 3. On these tapes, he involves more of the All Money In members such as Rimpau, Cuzzy Capone, & Killa Twan. J.Stone has sure built his popularity up as in his most recent album, The Definition of Sacrifice, that came out in June of last year featured the likes of Mozzy, Young Dolph, Styles P, Jadakiss, Swizz Beatz, and O.T. Genasis. Stone has been working hard and it shows as he gets better every time he steps in the booth.
Rollin Stone
He’s starting the new year off right with a new project! He linked up with DJ Drama for a Gangsta Grillz production titled, Rollin Stone. Rollin Stone is the first Hip-Hop tape of the year, and it is already legendary because it’s stamped by Gangsta Grillz. Since Nipsey has been gone, J.Stone has been holding it down. The message is still there and is still important. The message is the marathon. The Marathon the Continues.
