Jay-Z Creates 'Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment'

Rapper, label owner, entrepreneur, and activist, Jay-Z, is taking more action to better society by partnering with Long Island University (Brooklyn) to launch the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment.

In the twilight of his long and incredibly successful career, Jay-Z’s prime focus seems to be on giving back to society and leaving a positive mark on the world. With a pending lawsuit to fight for better prison conditions, newspaper ads taken out all over the country to support black-owned businesses, and a life’s worth of good deeds, the Brooklyn billionaire has now built his own college in his hometown.

Named after his entertainment company, the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment will offer a number of degrees, based out of LIU’s Brooklyn campus, starting in the Fall of 2021. The list of programs includes music, music technology, entertainment and sports management, and entrepreneurship in the heart of a city that defines the industry. In addition, the school will be giving students the opportunity to get a taste for the field with ‘immersive internships’ as a result of Jay-Z’s relationship with massive companies in the business.

The Roc Nation School may seem great, but if its like any other college, how much debt is it going to put me in? The cost of tuition and and number of enrolled students is unclear right now, but Jay-Z has announced multiple plans to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to attend. On top of the numerous scholarships and financial aid plans, there will also be a summer camp for high school students potentially considering careers in the entertainment field, with more scholarships given to those that need it.
