Breaking down barriers Jay-Z is the First Rap artist inducted into the Writers Hall of Fame

The Song Writers Hall of Fame has inducted Rap Legend Jay-Z on June 15, 2017 during their 48^th Annual induction ceremony.Jay-Z is in fact the first Rapper honored into the Song Writers Hall of Fame since its existence. How ironic is it that he never writes down any of his rhymes! This Legend has continued to make history on so many levels, from Marcy Projects to the Hall of Fame! Some would say it’s a long over do but let’s appreciate the gesture and say that its better late than never.  In honor of Jay’s Induction Tidal has launched a celebratory page which featured quotes giving tribute to Jay- Z from hip-hop legends such as Andre 3000, Chuck D, Rakim, Nicki Minaj, Chance The Rapper, Pharrell, and more take a look at the Tidal clip here.

A heartfelt letter from Gloria Carter was posted on various Instagram pages displaying how proud Mama Carter is of her son who was able to go from a local drug dealer to a life altering entrepreneur capable of impacting millions of lives through the art of his music. “You learned from your past and move forward. As you move forward you created music that changed young peoples lives. You taught them that it doesn’t matter where you come from, its where you end up”. Although Jay-Z was not in attendance to accept the award, he sure had a one hell of an introduction from our Former President Barack Obama. In place of Jay was his long time friend Jon Platt who was able to accept the Honor as well as give an acceptance speech on his behalf. This is just one of the first to steps of many to come in creating Hip Hop History!
