Jay-Z‘s company Roc Nation has a social justice division hub titled Team Roc. The said unit is requesting the United States Department of Justice to keep a heavy eye on the Kansas City Kansas Police Department.
The police facility is allegedly performing heinous acts. Team Roc and Tricia Rojo Bushnell, the executive director at Midwest Innocence Project, brought awareness to this in October 2021.
Recently, they debuted a video highlighting the families of several victims recalling the brutal acts KCKPD officers committed. In the video, called “We See You,” they speak about KCKPD officers who either physically or sexually assaulted these innocent people.
Additionally, they made a petition on www.change.org. The petition will prompt an investigation on the KCKPD. They’re also asking the Department of Justice for a pattern-or-practice investigation. The managing director of Roc Nation says “If you’re a human being and you have a conscience, there’s no way you can turn a blind eye to this.”
They also add, “What we’re seeing is a pattern of wrongdoing. A pattern of misconduct. A pattern that has been unchecked for quite some time. And that it requires an independent source to come in. Obviously the highest level, to really take a good look at those patterns.”
