In a joint phone interview with Chance the Rapper on Sway’s Universe on December 15th, Jeremih outlined his experiences after becoming infected with COVID-19.
Following his hospitalization on November 5th, Jeremih (real name Jeremy Felton) battled the virus and was released from the ICU on November 22nd and then subsequently discharged from the hospital on December 5th.
During the course of the interview Jeremih recalled his ordeal and the severity of his situation. The 33-year old singer’s condition was critical to the point that he does not recall much of the experience, at one point noting “I don’t even remember the day I went in”.
Like many other severe COVID cases, Felton had to be put on a ventilator at one point, saying “I had the tube down my throat for about a week and a half”. His condition also reached the point of multisystem inflammatory syndrome, an inflammation of the organs that in his case affected the heart, kidneys, and liver.
Despite the severity of his illness, Jeremih was thankfully able to defeat the virus and expressed gratitude for his health and the well wishes he had received in an Instagram post from December 9th.
The interview was in part to promote the streaming release of Merry Christmas Lil Mama: The Gift That Keeps On Giving, a compilation of songs from the Merry Christmas Lil Mama mixtapes released jointly by Jeremih and Chance the Rapper.
