Jermaine Dupri New Claims About Jay-Z And His Audience In The South

Jay-Z has been the topic of discussion a lot lately. Some did not agree with him topping the list of top 50 greatest rappers, according to billboard.

However, now record executive Jermaine Dupri claims Southern rap did not even know Jay-Z until the song “Money Ain’t A Thang.”

21 Savage And Nas Comparison To Jay-Z’s Relevance In The South

Jermaine Dupri’s claims about Jay-Z are also hot off the trail of 21 Savage‘s comment about Nas being irrelevant, which Jermaine brings up in the conversation.

Nas and Jay were heavy hitters of their time, but hip-hop is still very young as Dupri points out on the I Am Athlete podcast.

The composer describes how the comment 21 made hit him different compared to everyone else. Dupri went on to explain he knew that the London-born rapper was talking about his environment.

Dupri Defends 21 Savage’s Comment

He defended the young rapper by saying that Nas was probably not playing when Savage walked out on the street.

The Atlanta native stated that back then he had to explain there are rappers in New York that rappers in Atlanta never get to hear. Dupri said they would listen to their kind of music in their clubs, and it was twerking music that would be played frequently.

Mr. Dupri has had a heavy hand in the hip-hop industry, but made another interesting claim lately. J.D. said he was the creator of 106 & Park, which was cleared up by Stephen Hill. The former president of programming at BET had to jump in the conversation siding with Bow Wow.

Hill showed love while gracefully clarifying that Jermaine Dupri’s show was a bit of an overstep.
