Harlem native Jim Jones took fast action and saved the life of his photographer and friend, Jerry Flete. Flete, also known as Flee Flicks, suddenly collapsed while they attended a crypto event in Florida. The two sat down with Inside Edition to share the moment that led to Jones showcasing his heroism.

Jones gave an account to the frightful moment saying, “I just saw Flee sitting, just going through something that didn’t seem good like he was choking,” Jim said. “He couldn’t breathe, and his eyes was going back in his head, and he was catching a bit of a seizure. I actually didn’t know what was going on. Kind of scared me.”

Flete shared, “If it wasn’t for Jim, who knows what would’ve happened. If it wasn’t somebody as capable as him, who knows what would’ve happened.” He continued, “We was just literally just hanging out on a break from work. Just hanging out,” Jerry said. “It just happened so fast. Basically, I woke up, Jim giving me chest compression and telling me, ‘Wake up. Wake up.’ He basically saved my life. I’m here today because of Jim.”

Flee is still unsure of what happened but encourages everyone to get moving. He credits Jones as an inspiration for taking his health more seriously. He also admits that his unhealthy eating habits may have contributed to the sudden collapse.

Jim Jones’ Experience With CPR

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is an emergency procedure consisting of chest compressions. This medical practice is used to restore blood circulation and breathing in a person in cardiac arrest.

Jones told Inside Edition that he and his family learned to administer CPR when Jones was 12 years old. “When I was younger,” he said, “I had to take these classes for CPR and all that type of things for my little sister who has a heart condition. They needed the whole family to take these special classes before she came home when she was a baby.

He also awards his ability to act quickly, liable for the success of CPR. “I think all those classes stuck with me all the way to this day because I remember everything vividly they told me to do in certain situations, I got over there, I just was as frantic and confused as everybody else at first. And then something just jumped in me like, get to it. It gave him life again.”

Jim Says, “Get Movin”

This moment has sparked a seriousness for health and wealth in Jones yet again. He ensures Flete is in the gym with him more often. His workout journey has been a journey to follow indeed. Although there is no specific tip for working out, the ‘Ballin’ rapper encourages you to “get movin.”
