Carmela Wallace, the mother of the late rapper Juice WRLD, has published an open letter to mark this year’s World Mental Health Day. Juice WRLD was famously open about his struggles with depression and addiction in his lyrics. He often tried to help his fans prior to his tragic death in December.
Wallace has also launched a new organization in his honor, Live Free 999. Their website states that their “mission is to support programs that provide preventative measures and positive avenues to address mental health challenges and substance dependency. Through financial grants and partnerships, Live Free 999 will bolster organizations providing positive mental health treatments and alternatives to drug use. Beyond providing financial support, Live Free 999 wants to continue the conversation around mental health and addiction.”

We strive towards Supporting programs that compassionately and successfully address addiction, anxiety, and depression. Normalizing the conversation around these issues, especially in underserved communities. Supporting programs that help people find positive avenues to process their mental health challenges just like Jarad did with his music.
